How does the period with the cup look like?
How to use the cup - a quick guide
Inserting the cup
1. Before inserting the cup
Rinse the cup with water (makes the insertion easier) and fold it. You will reduce its size and so it is easier to insert the cup.
2. Inserting the cup
The folded cup is placed at the edge of the vagina. When inserted, the cup unfolds itself. Its upper rim presses itself against the vaginal wall and collects the menstrual blood. It is placed inside your vagina in its entirety including the stem (a small handle) which ensures the easy removal of the cup.
Removing the cup
1. How often to empty the cup
The emptying interval depends on the blood flow and it is usually from 4 to 12 hours. The cup is suitable for use during the day and night as well. It is usual to empty the cup after 8 or 10 hours. In general, the changing interval of the cup is 2 or 3 times longer than with tampon.
2. Removing the cup
To remove the cup, gently pull the stem down and move the cup a little bit. Then squeeze it gently with one finger just to break the connection between the rim and vaginal wall and remove it slowly.
3. Reinserting the cup
The menstrual blood stays inside and it is emptied to the toilet. Rinse the cup with water and reinsert it afterward.
When the period is over
When your period is over, wash the cup properly with water and then sterilize it by steaming it in a microwave or boil it in a saucepan for several minutes. You can store the clean and sterile cup in the cotton pouch and keep it ready for your next period.
